Minimum Requirements
Applicants were required to meet the following conditions:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have Grade 9, Standard 7, ABET Level 4 or an equivalent NQF Level 1 qualification.
- Be able to communicate in English and at least one other official South African language.
- Have basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.
- Understand how to use and safely handle cleaning detergents.
- Have basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
- Be able to operate elementary cleaning machines and equipment.
- Be able to work professionally with colleagues and members of the public.
- Be willing to work extended hours when required.
- Be willing to undergo security screening and qualification verification.
Previous cleaning experience was not listed as a compulsory requirement for most of these positions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants would have been responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in and around SAPS premises.
Duties included:
- Sweeping, mopping and polishing floors.
- Vacuuming carpets.
- Dusting furniture, offices and working areas.
- Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens and other shared facilities.
- Emptying refuse bins and removing refuse bags.
- Cleaning kitchenware and utensils.
- Safely storing and handling cleaning materials.
- Cleaning entrances, passages and surrounding areas.
- Washing SAPS vehicles where required.
- Loading and unloading goods when requested.
- Performing other general cleaning and housekeeping duties.
